Downgrading of Food Caterer “CJS Catering” located at 1 Senoko Avenue, #03-05, Foodaxis @ Senoko, Singapore 758297 due to Food Poisoning Incident

61 persons were reported to have gastroenteritis symptoms after consuming food prepared by “CJS Catering” located at 1 Senoko Avenue, #03-05, Foodaxis @ Senoko, Singapore 758297 on 15 June 2019. None were hospitalised, and all have since recovered.

A joint inspection by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) was conducted at CJS Catering on 18 June 2019. High bacterial load and foodborne pathogens were detected in the ready-to-eat food samples, indicating poor hygiene and food preparation practices. Information on the time stamp was also found to be falsified during the inspection. SFA will take enforcement actions for the lapses.

Following investigations, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has adjusted the food caterer’s food hygiene grade from “A” to “C” with effect from 19 August 2019, to be reviewed in 12 months, and will keep the premises under surveillance. Food operators are reminded to adhere to good food hygiene and safety processes. Infection prevention practices such as the washing of hands before handling food can greatly reduce the incidence of gastroenteritis when adopted by all key stakeholders, including the industry and public.
