Environmental Studies

SFA adopts a multi-pronged approach to safeguard Singapore’s food security, which includes diversifying import sources and increasing local production. For local production, environmental consideration is an essential part of our planning and development process.

SFA conducts studies to understand the impact of proposed developmental projects on the environment, and engages different stakeholders such as nature groups, the public and/or government agencies on the findings and mitigation measures.

The Environmental Studies conducted by SFA are indicated below. You may provide your feedback on the project(s) as and when it is opened for feedback.

Land Reclamation at Northeastern Coast of Lorong Halus and Aquaculture Development in the East Johor Strait

JTC plans to carry out land reclamation at the northeastern coast of Lorong Halus to support future demand for industrial and special uses. In the vicinity, SFA has plans to develop aquaculture in the East Johor Strait (EJS) to build the local agri-food industry’s capability and capacity.

An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) has been conducted for each project to determine the potential environmental impact and recommend suitable mitigation measures.

Due to the proximity of JTC’s Lorong Halus Reclamation and SFA’s planned development in the EJS, a cumulative assessment was carried out in the EIA for the EJS development.

Public feedback for the EIA report was sought from 10 March 2025 to 7 April 2025.

The public feedback period has closed.

If you would like to view the report(s), please contact JTC officers, Ms Yukie Ngoh at Yukie_NGOH@jtc.gov.sg and Ms Joan Lim at Joan_LIM@jtc.gov.sg, and SFA officers, Mr Desmond Tan at Desmond_cp_tan@sfa.gov.sg and Mr Rahmat at Rahmat_KHAIRUDIN@sfa.gov.sg.
