FOOD (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS 2025

 

The Food (Amendment) Regulations 2025 has been gazetted on 31 Jan 2025 and will come into operation on 30 Jan 2026.

2        This set of amendments makes changes to the Food Regulations with respect to labelling requirements for prepacked foods to incorporate relevant labelling provisions in the following Codex Standards:

  • Codex General Standard for the Labelling of Prepackaged Foods (CXS 1-1985)
  • Codex General Guidelines on Claims (CXG 1-1979)
  • Codex Standard for Foods for Special Dietary Use for Persons Intolerant to Gluten (CXS 118-1979)

3        The food industry has been consulted via a public consultation exercise from 28 September 2022 to 27 November 2022. A summary of the comments received and SFA’s response can be downloaded from:
